On 8/12/2018, Dr. Ya Qar and her daughter Mercy presented a tribute to Fanny Crosby, an American mission worker, poet, lyricist, and composer. She was one of the most prolific hymnists in history, writing more than 8,000 hymns and gospel songs, with more than 100 million copies printed, despite being blind from shortly after birth. By the end of the 19th century, she was a household name.
|In addition to our JOY (Just Older Youth) Club on Wednesdays at 11:00 am, we provide an early morning worship service for the Orchard Senior Living Center which is located a couple of blocks from church. A ministry team from the church leads the residents in singing, prayer, and a devotional message each Sunday from 9:00 to 9:45 am. From an initial group of four residents almost two years ago, we now have an average of 30 in attendance at the services.
Occasionally, residents will visit the church for our 11:00 am service and for our JOY Club meetings. Recently the Orchard “Ding-a-lings” bell choir provided music for our congregation. Many of the residents who attend the early morning service now consider it to be “their church.”
|We started going to Brookside Senior Living in Stone Mt., GA in March of 2017 to sing hymns and to present a brief devotional. We now meet monthly with the residents on the 3rd Friday of each month. Attendance averages around 25 each time.|
|Our “Lunch Bunch” gets together twice a week for fun, food, and fellowship. We meet after church at Applebee’s in Tucker, then gather at Golden Corral in Snellville on Tuesdays.|
|Fellowship Meal – Quarterly we gather in the Fellowship Hall for a family-style meal. It’s a time to reflect on our past experiences, to strengthen our friendships, and to share our food and Christian hospitality with members and guests.|
